Several years ago, after traveling to Alaska and discovering first hand what people were not experiencing when taking the generic pre-packaged tours offered by all the large Alaska tour and cruise companies, the owners of Country Place Travel in Lawrenceville, Georgia decided to design and offer custom tours to Alaska.
The packages which we have designed for either pre-cruise passengers, post-cruise passengers, or someone flying in and out of Alaska without taking a cruise are designed to give travelers specific wildlife experiences that can not be found in any pre-packaged tour brochure.
For example, two nights in Denali makes it possible to take the full 8 hour wildlife tour into Denali National Park, and thus maximize your chances to see grizzly bear and caribou.
Another example is the southbound train from Anchorage to Seward which actually travels over the most scenic portion of the entire Alaska rail system. What a fabulous way to get to your waiting ship, and again you won’t find it mentioned in most of the major tour brochures, simply because the double decker dome cars that are featured on the trains north to Denali will not clear the series of five mountain tunnels found on the southern portion of the Alaska Railroad between Anchorage and Seward.
If you want to have some fun with your fellow cruise passengers, just tell them how YOU got to the ship from Anchorage.
Some of our cruise passengers have even reported that this 4 ½ hour train ride was the highlight of their entire Alaska trip!
